Plague ravages Green Cliffs

By Videtta Kiranov, Reporter for the Tyros Times

It began several days ago when a tarn at the tarnkeepers aerie turned up dead having chocked on its own vomit. The hunters noticed more dead animals in the woods and even domestic animals in the next several days.  The first human victims were a lady of Green Cliffs, Darki and a kajira named Tiny.  The tarnskeeper Marauder followed shortly.  The village scribe, Videtta, stumbled upon them and sent a frantic bird to Tyros and Corcyrus for assistance.

Lady Rogue McDonnell from Tyros responded arriving quickly via tarn with an entourage and moved the stricken members of Green Cliffs to the longhouse, the biggest building in the tiny village.  There she examined the fallen free woman and discovered the plague had been transferred by fleas to the humans where it burrowed under the skin causing this illness.

She enlisted the scribes help in treating the plague and ordered that the patients be stripped examined and bathed.  The treatment was to find a red welt and remove the flea that was buried there.  The she ordered that every member of the village be examined and all of their clothing including the veils of the free women be burned.  Fresh clothing was sent from Corcyrus as all of the clothing in the village needed to be burned along with all of the dead animals.

However, the illness that swept through Green Cliffs was not at an end.  The joyous celebration of Sean and Stormie’s free companion ceremony was darkened by the symptoms emerging in several of the guests that attended.  It quickly spread throughout the village and the village fled the area leaving behind their homes, clothing, furniture and livestock.  A nearby panther tribe also suffered the same problems and lit the camp on fire, burning it to the ground.  Green Cliffs followed suit setting their own buildings on fire as they left.  The fire jumped to the forest and spread rapidly through the trees.

Green Cliffs and the surrounding forest were burned to the ground and the city of Corcyrus set up a refugee camp for the displaced citizens whose sole possession they took from Green Cliffs was their homestone.
