Treason and dissension amongst the warriors of Tyros

By Trenton Childs, Publisher and Editor of the Tyros Times

Rumors and innuendo have been running rampant amongst the scarlet caste of the Island of Tyros.  Some have accused the First Sword, Thalgar Heron of being disrespectful and dishonorable, while others defend him for being a tough leader.  Time will tell which is the more accurate description of the always controversial First Sword of Tyros.  The latest incident for the scarlet caste of Tyros was the treason of the warrior Zucriy Reinard.  Zuc as he was called, tried to a make a treasonous deal with the panthers captured on the rescue mission of the Master of Arms, Cowboy Cooperstone.  He specifically tried to make a deal that would offer up the entire city of Tyros in return for the death of one man, that one man is Thalgar Heron.  How is it that one man can instill such hatred in his subordinates that they would surrender the city they pledged to protect if he were killed?  Is this a case of an over ambitious warrior looking to move up the ladder of rank by killing his commander, or is it a case of a good man pushed to his limits by a First Sword who is anything but the right man for the job?  Only time will tell.

Beyond the speculation, we know these facts to be clear.  Zuc’s offer of treason to the panthers was found out.  The panthers gave up all the information that was necessary to convict the warrior of treason.  Reading the statement written by the panther and aknowledged as credited by Thalgar, this was what Zuc had wanted:
" Let me introduce myself first, I am Zukriy of the Tyros Guardsmen. My position allows me to go places and do things that you ladies cannot. I want revenge for what a male in that city did to a beloved kajira, and you panthers would like your vengance as well i'm sure.
THere are things that are considered honorable, and those in that damned caste that would no sooner rape a woman and kill her without thinking twice about it. I want his head. The head of the First Sword of Tyros.
Reinard: In return I would deliver the city to you on a silver platter."

Questioned by the panther for more details, he goes on to state:
"He goes by the name of Thalgar... an arrogant asshole indeed. He runs us guardsmen with orders that are far to atrocious to mention. I dare not take a life of anymore innocents and I pray his crimes be held accountable."

Finally, to get more details, the panther asked what exactly was wanted.
"I'm proposing I help you organize a group to destroy Tyros and take it by force! Loot it and add to your camp! But leave the Kajira and its women alone. I will deliver it all to you as much as I can."

Zucriy Reinard sealed his fate with his treason.  His reasons as stated in the information gathered from the panthers were not denied by him.  He was brought before the First Sword and Regent, for judgment.  Many were there to witness the events.  The Regent Galahad Huet demanded reasons for Zuc’s treason, and in the end the only reasons Zuc could offer was for revenge against the First Sword.  The Regent then ordered Zucriy Reinard put to death by impalement.

Zucriy Reinard accused the First Sword, Thalgar Heron of many unspeakable acts, including rape and murder.  Accusations, if proven true, that would lead many to call Thalgar dishonorable and unworthy of his position.  In time we will all know if his reasons were accurate and truthful, or completely false.  The truth will out.  In time we will know where the truth lays.  One thing that can be said with absolute conviction and certainty is that treason is never the answer.  For even if all that he claims is true, one must never dishonor their pledge to their homstone.
